Overcoming the Accuracy vs Agility Trade-Off in Demand Planning & Forecasting

  • More frequent forecasting cycles (from once a month to once a week and possibly even more frequent depending on the context)
  • Shorter time steps forecasting — anticipate where demand is moving in and out of based on latest information in shorter windows of time
  • Becoming more granular and contextual in the input and output of the forecast
  • Sensing new information faster (both internal and external)
  • Enabling long and short data connections (bringing together business plans/target information, top down view of trends, consumption data, as well as information about sales activations, promotions, trade incentives and supply chain factors such as latest filings, channel inventory, warehouse withdrawals, etc.)
